I am going to change all my shocks and top mounts soon and have a good look to see if I can identify the cause of the noise.
A part of me is wondering if the top mount bearing has worn sufficiently that it is causing a rumble when that shock is loaded (nearside shock).
Incidentally I have changed discs and pads all round and the wishbone on the nearside front too.
I will update here if and when I solve it. I would appreciate if you would too.

Yeah I will definitely keep you updated. The box is a standard 6 speed manual in mine. A friend of mine who fiddles with cars is straying towards the hub being at fault as he said you'd probably feel vibrations in the steering wheel or pedals with a drive shaft.
Its going in for another look weekend after next so will update as we go!
