Default Automatic v40 going into reduced performance

Hi everyone. New to the forum as I’ve just got a Volvo. Apologies if there is a similar question on the forum - I couldn’t find anything the same as mine.

I have an automatic 2.0 V40 D4. The car is 2015 with reasonably low miles. The problem is when you accelerate it very briefly goes into a ‘limp mode’ for about 2 seconds. It says reduced performance on the screen. After a couple of seconds the message disappears and the power returns. I don’t have to turn off the car - it clears quickly itself. I thought this was a one off but it is happening more and more recently. I’d say it happens most if your cruising at a normal speed and then when you accelerate to overtake for example - this is when it happens. Not very good with cars so I’ve no idea what this is. Is it a boost issue with the turbo etc. it clears and the car drives fine with no warning lights on the dash but I assume this can’t be normal or good for the car. I’ve also noticed it doesn’t happen when the automatic is in Sport mode…

Has anyone got any similar experiences or suggestions. Cheers.
