The parking brake lever is where it is for the sake of consistency. It's in the same place as the release lever for those with a foot pedal for to apply the parking brake with. Personally, I don't think it matters so much where it is.

That's another function I don't use, the automatic sensor never matches my requirements, either too slow or too fast so rain setting never gets used.
Really cannot see the point of it when lifting the stsalk gives a single wipe any time you want.
