Whilst I'm not advercating going back to the time when the driver had to manually adjust the advance and retard of the ignition while driving, if I am behind the wheel, I prefer and enjoy controlling all the car functions how I want. Not have them controlled by some Swedish algorithm, which WILL at some stage suck the last little bits of pleasure that remain in the activity of driving. Its bad enough having a co-pilot, at least she can be ignored (at my own peril) but many of these modern "conveniences" are there because some designer/engineer can do them, and for me spoil the pleasure of driving a car.
I appreciate there are many who do not share my view, perhaps if I had to drive 30K miles a year again I may rethink my position. But when I did drive those mileages, the only "convenience" I used regularly was cruise control, due to the long boring motorway sections.

Cheers
Bob
