Hello all,

XC90 D5 SE 2007

I've been living with a squeal upon brisk acceleration from standstill or heavy load (eg. pulling away from stationary on an incline) for about a year now. The exact noise is similar to tyre squeal or a slipping belt.

I can eliminate actual wheel spin because I've tested the awd in the snow and it works fine. A slipping belt I doubt because the noise seems to be coming from the back of the engine or gearbox. In all other conditions the vehicle drives perfectly with smooth gear changes and no error codes. The squeal is there irrespective of the direction I am turning - including straight ahead.

Can anybody suggest another line of enquiry or common issue?
