Hi, I am no expert her but when I bought for mine, it was a can of base colour and a can of clear lacquer. The pair cost about £12, (eBay) may be a bit more now. You can also buy a kit of three which includes primer.
I use the base coat spray first then the clear and worked fine. I am not sure if it would be wise just to use the base coat, but again, I am no expert.
