XC70 2008-2012 have Haldex (now Borg Warner) generation IV. 2013-2016 have generation V.
None of them are applied during normal driving. But starting uphill in wet grass, let alone snow, you'll be able to tell the difference immediately. You don't need any heavy right foot for that.
