Sorry to read Arianne - but the right decision, the engineering is clearly flawed and the execution and quality poor.
In your shoes I would go out and buy something second hand that will see you through 6 months without losing too much money and perhaps something different to the SUV if you can manage for that time frame - have a bit of fun, try something different and lick your wounds whilst you decide what to do next long term...
Good luck with it and stick around here, even if you dont choose a Volvo...
