Hang about, this is fully synthetic oil. I was on 5000 mile oil changes 35 years ago with mineral multigrade.,
While I agree 18,000 is too long surly fully synthetic should reach 10,000 mile intervals without problems unless a lot of stop start town driving is undertaken. Provided the car gets a couple of decent runs a month to keep the dpf clean then failed regeneration should not be a problem as the car only regenerates when the dpf is out of spec due to soot biuld up.

I find an annual oil change on my car that does between 10,000/12,000 good miles anualy has been fine and I am anal about oil changes, landrover gets 2 a year of semi synthetic a4b4 despite a max of 10,000 miles a year but it gets far more arduous use than the volvo, often waded through rivers and slow speed running.

Is there a reason you choose 6k as an interval?
