The 2 litre turbo will be quicker than a 2.3 LPT but upping the boost is easy and at the end of the day the 96/7 block can be tuned harder, particularly if you change the turbo.

The estate might have the ALD - useful when its slippery, and probably will have nivomat shocks - wonderful for loads and all-round excellent until they need replacing. They should do 130,000 miles or more. Check by looking - they look upside-down as correctly fitted! Nivos should pump up the ride height if you let the vehicle stand for an hour then jump up and down on the towbar. If they don't do that, or leak, walk away. They are several hundred to replace if you can find the right ones.

I have a B230ET, a B234F, two B230FTs and a B6304. None do over 25 mpg and with abuse do less.
