Generally, I'd agree with you. My pipes are in many pieces, cobbled together with bits of rubber tube and jubilee clips. They're not illegal, but they are almost certainly worse than anything you've got.

New pipes are simply out of the question. I just don't have that kind of money available, at least, not for the forseeable future. So the options are 1) fit second hand, or 2) continue using the ones I've got until something better comes along.

But I understand.
