The issue with VIDA working with models only up to 2015 MY is that from VIDA version 2014D the VIDA package was re-written and is more cloud (internet) based. VIDA includes a database of every relevant Volvo ever made including build spec and all factory options and that got just too big to install onto every laptop or tablet as part of the core VIDA install.
Hence versions after 2014 will only work if appropriately licensed and activated as they are permanently online.
