Thanks Bafler. The starter was replaced with a previous owner.....chasing the same issue so it seems. That’s according to the history, the bill is there anyway.
It certainly could be that. As said it did it waiting for its Contrôle Technique the other week and the tester tapped the motor with a crow bar whilst I cranked it and off it went.
Yesterday morning I did three start-ups, on the third it was ‘dead’ gave the starter 5 ‘love taps’ with the ‘duty crow bar’ and it fired up immediately.
Then in the afternoon nipped out on errands which needed 5 start-ups and it was spot on every time......
