I've still got the original battery in my 2006 and it's still absolutely fine.
Just another endorsement for Tayna. I've used them to buy a couple of batteries (for a boat and for a Mazda 3) and they're very good. Good choice/range of specs and good price. The battery failed in my wife's car and she needed to be rescued by the RAC, who offered her a new Bosch battery at "special/trade" price of £125. Tayna have the same battery for about £70. I can't remember what exactly we went for in the end, but a decent brand and a higher spec (much better than the original, rather poor spec Mazda battery).
