Did you fit an AGM battery or just a generic one? Sounds like a warranty issue to me, the handbook says the battery should be good for up to seven years.
I discovered the hard way that there’s no battery protection on the car when I accidentally left a rear door ajar for a week which totally flattened the battery. Learned from this and bought a NOCO lithium ion jump starter thing to keep in the glovebox*.
* annoyingly it fits perfectly in the hole under the boot floor, but you can’t access this if the boot is closed and the battery is flat.
