I know the garages like to scare us all into changing cambelts on most cars earlier than necessary but I would have thought that at 9 years old and 80k (on a v.clean model) it shouldn't need doing yet ?? Is there any commom thread regarding T5 2.3 engine cambelt failures - or are they known to be very tough ?
I know a lot of cars have a 60k / 5 year belt change rule, but if Volvo say 10 years rather than the usual 5 - then surely the belts will last 120k miles ???
Many thanks ...
My V70 T5 1997 2.3 cambelt change interval is 80k miles or 8 years, which ever is sooner. Therefore, I would say it's now time to get your cambelt changed as you've done 80k already and the car is nine years old. Why risk your engine???
