Would the inner workings be the same, i.e the airbag mine has 3 spokes wheras the original is 4?

There is a Volvo option for a wooden steering wheel. Your steering wheel is almost certainly original equipment.

Scroll down to steering wheel, wood at http://accessories.volvocars.com/Acc...yling/interior.

It looks like there would be a change of 'components' in going to a four spoke steering wheel. Such a change would be stupendously costly! Why would you want to do it? A wooden steering wheels is a premium design element, highly prized!

I wish we had one on my wife's XC90. If we would have ordered it, we would have gotten the wooden wheel and maybe a wooden gearshift handle, but we bought it out of dealer stock.
