I've recently come across an advertisement for an S80 D2, but the first thing I thought is that it would be majorly underpowered taking into account the size of the vehicle. I see plenty of D2's on the roads, but usually in smaller models. From what I'm reading here, they definitely seem cheaper to run in comparison to a D5 & people seem to be happy with them. I know they probably won't be anywhere near as powerful as a D5, but that's to be expected I suppose. Do these D2's actually do the mpg they claim to? The S80 advertisement I looked at said it done 58.9mpg around town! My D5 (2007, P3 shape) books at 28mpg around town if I recall correctly... That's a massive difference.

So, presumably the D2 8v (115bhp in the S80) would be the model to go for, not the 'Drive' 16v ones with less bhp? I've also read that there's some kind of fluid that needs to be serviced, which has something to do with the DPF on the lower output versions?
