Hia.

Sorry if this is a repeat question, but I’ve read lots of different posts all over the Internet and am left a bit confused.
I think I need a transmission fluid change due to erratic gear changes.

My car is a 2008 xc70 D5 2.4 auto awd 183 hp (with the expensive adjustable suspension) which is great in many ways.

Would people recommend an atf , automatic transmission fluid , complete drain and refill?
A partial drain and refill then repeat?

If you do the complete drain do you need to communicate with the car with the Vida Dice gismo?
If so, why?

This may be a bit of a simplistic outlook but :-
Is the relationship between gears and lubricant not a mechanical one?
And therefore if the bad oil were changed for good oil, surely the mechanical properties of the gearbox would improve greatly?
If that is the case, why the expense and hassle of computer interface?

Put simply, if I dump my old 100k + atf for new stuff without telling the computer, what harm will it do, if any?
