A bit late to the party; but, on my 1971 142 E (North American) there is no relay to control the OD solenoid. It is powered up directly by the OD switch through the 4th gear lock out switch on the gear box cover. If you check the wiring diagrams in the factory service manual or the Haynes 140 manual I think you will find that all the 140s were like this. So, should you choose to use it you can put your relay wherever you want and it will be 'correct'.

There is a nice modification that you can do that uses the later latching OD relay used in the 240 and later cars. This arrangement causes the OD to automatically disengage if you shift out of 4th gear (or you can disengage by operating the switch). It does require the use of a momentary contact switch for OD operation which is not the factory normal 140 OD switch.
