By inner and outer races to tap away at, do you mean removing the bearing then drifting out the old races and drifting in the replacements?
When I had my Marina, which had taper front wheel bearings, another Marina enthusiast advised the following:
Once the old race is out of the hub, cut through it with an angle grinder and use it to drift the new race in. It’s the exact size but will not jam in the hub because of the cut out. It worked well for me on a number of occasions.
