This was before I fitted the undertray and with the hood open and the front of the car jacked up.
I would not be unusual for the engine itself to be 100C or more to the touch , enough to burn you ! Then you have the Exhaust manifold and turbocharger/s which can be 400 c to 600c + depending how hard the engine is working .. that will burn your skin off immediately and flood the engine bay with super hot air ... The underbonnet temperature is known by the ECU and the radiator fan will run harder if it all gets too hot even with the ignition off ...
