I think you should find a connection in the wiring harness (under nsr floor panel) with a connector plug ready to accept the wiring harnes. It all depends of course on if you mind cutting this off and whether or not you want to fit a buzer to give audible confirmation of the trailer/towed vehicle indicator lights working correctly, or use Volvos built in warning light in the instrument cluster.
Your wiring harness looks a real mess to me. If I were doing the job I would buy the main stealer harness (which isn't too dear) and makes a very quick and easy job.
