No, the Subaru has a stripped out interior and a thumping great roll-cage installed in the back. The Rover has the standard factory fitted seats.
No, the standard spec of the production WRX is 2.5L 305bhp, not 600+bhp as they have used for the record challenge.
I could go on because i found other admissions through the videos from the American guy (from Subaru of America) of other modifications.
Rover didn't double the power output of the engine or fit a trick gearbox, it was all standard except the bits i pointed out above.
You're not comparing like with like - a fully prepared rally car against a production car straight off the line and you certainly can't say they had similar modifications.
