Not sure if the test in VIDA would be as good as using a traditional kit? Hopefully someone can chime in to it's accuracy, I've never used it.
Also yeah dropping something into the tank like what you mentioned could be getting in the way of the fuel pick up pipe of the low pressure pump, it would of course mean draining and dropping the tank...
