I've just changed my rear brake disc and pads. The info sheet provided by Volvo with the brake pads recommends that the bolts (as per I-S's guide) and O-ring seals for the EPB unit be replaced at the same time, Kit part no. 30681857 and has cost me £19.40 per caliper. Given that I can buy an EPB tool for £52 it does seem more cost effective to buy and would certainly be quicker to use an EPB tool.

Having said that though, I think replacing the bolts and O-rings every 3rd or 4th pad change would be very good preventative maintenance.
