I kept the one on mine together for as long as possible, but eventually it bit the dust. I presume it's scattered in pieces somewhere down the M62. It's made absolutely no difference at all. I think it only really comes into effect in very cold climates where the throttle body can suffer freezing.
That said, replace it for completeness if you so desire. But don't be suprised if there turns out to be another culprit for your idling problem.
