I just heard from Volvo, looks like it was the fuse, RAC chap was hopeless, didn't even check that. In hindsight I should have known to check myself but was knackered after spending all day in the thing.

Fuses blow for a reason so I'm now wondering what caused it to go. Volvo don't want to investigate as it's going to be a lengthy procedure to get to fuel pump and check all the wires etc so have been told to see how it goes with some spare fuses in the glovebox.

Hopefully just a bad fuse, I was told it looked old and worn but I'm getting ready for a pump replacement in the near future as I don't think this is the end of this issue.
