Spanner . . . no use. Spanner moves but nut won't. Just continue and you'll be left with a rounded nut. Impact method with a spanner and hammer . . . likewise.
A gas torch on the other hand makes wonders.
When the parts arrive the job will be done fairly quickly and painlessly.

I came to the same conclusion BUT...a word of warning. I was working on my S60 trying to loosen the connection between the flex hose and the solid line and I heated it up for 2min and walked away from the car...just as I did the flex line exploded sending hot brake fluid everywhere. Lucky that I walked away as I had neglected to put on safety glasses!!! Apparently these popping of their crimp ends is a common occurrence when heated. Now I know.
