I would concur with the advice to use Volvo shoes.
During the 6 years I ran an XC90, I needed to do the handbrake about 3 times.
The first time, I replaced the shoes with Mintex ones and, while they worked, they appeared to be made of a much harder material and did not have the bite of the original ones, so after a year or two I reverted to Volvo ones.
Brake Engineering discs from my local motor factors proved to be very good and cost about £65 for the pair; I got the genuine shoes and adjusters from Volvo Parts Direct for about £35.
One recurring problem I had was the expanders seizing up, causing the brakes to drag while reducing their performance: the only cure was to strip them down and use copper grease on the expander, which would last a couple of years.
