I paid £262 for a service including MOT at an Independent Volvo Specialist. So I had the oil changed, a new oil filter, pollen filter, diagnostics print-out, MOT & a wash. The total labour cost was £62.50, the rest was parts etc.

I don't think that's too bad to be honest, but the car is now 13 years old & has full service history. For future maintenance, part of me is thinking its best to keep it serviced at a Volvo Specialist to keep the history, but I know its not going to be worth much more than if it had hardly any history come sale time! I'm swaying in both directions on it to be honest.

Do you actually need Vida/Dice to turn off the service lights on these vehicles? I know the dipstick needs to be filled to approx 3/4, but its easier to measure the actual oil level with Vida I presume. How do you measure the oil level if you're DIY servicing without any software that these garages use?

I've done lots of other work to the car myself, like new discs & pads all around, aux belts & tensioner to name a few... I just haven't changed the oil in case I get overfill warnings!
