The first symptom which made me check the alternator was a whining noise at low revs. Then checked the battery with a multimeter: 12.2V when engine off and cold (not driven for 5 days), and slowly climbed up to 14V when idling. I then put all of the lights and cabin electronics on and it struggled to get above 12V. Alternator was also too hot to touch after a couple of minutes of idling.
Do you think that could still be one of the other things you mentioned?
