Trouble is I've now spent a couple of hours reading on the web
it's my own fault, there are some things that just click my interest button and I'm off on one.
For general purposes I think your figure is close enough that it's not 'grossly inaccurate', allowing for the different test methods and that petrol is a blended product means there are a lot of variables so no one can give a scientific formula for quick comparison. It seems for petrol/gasoline RON is about 10 or 12 higher than MON, and US pumps show either PON, AKI or R+M/2, which are the average of RON and MON- so about 6 lower than the UK pump shows.
