I had this, turned out to be corroded/cracked abs reluctor rings on the front.

I bought a new pair for about £15 from ebay and fitted them myself, problem solved. It's not a hugely complex job but you need to be reasonably confident with the spanners. There are videos showing how it's done on Youtube.

After this job you'll probably need to get the alignment reset.
