Hmm, does.your cooling fan kick in? You can't miss it unless.you're profoundly deaf... Just observing you overheat at low speeds and after a long run, but not at highway speeds.
Next time it gets toasty, pop the bonnet and see if the cooling fan is making more noise than usual; it should, if it isn't then test the fan clutch by dragging the hub with a pencil (mind yer fingers/hair/necktie), it shoudn't slow down.
Cheapy replacement if you need a new one (dude accepts £25)
