Good news about the clicking - perhaps you have a small dent in the other alloys then?
Regarding the leak, if its not the vacuum lines or the hoses I am not sure, but it does still sound like a vacuum leak - especially given it improved slightly when you fixed one vacuum line. I'd also check the routing, especially to the TCV.
