That was indeed an exceedingly good buy. It never ceases to amaze me what commercial versions of once common small cars make today. But should it? As working vehicles, they often led a hard life and few survived. The laws of supply and demand come into effect and survivors command a premium over the car from which they were derived.

Factor in too that small cars in general do not survive as well, and is it any surprise that an Isetta 300 or Fiat 500, for example, may command more than a similar year / condition, originally much more expensive, large car?
