Default Chocolate 244DL - A mobile Mars Bar

Selling and open to offers this 1980 244DL of unknown mileage. Showing 40K.
Odometer stops and starts when it wants to.

She drives extremely well, a manual 4 speed, 2.1 Base model. This is the most releiable car I have ever owned. It has been previously owned by 1 old couple who bought it new, was worked on by 1 mechanic all its life, and sold to a second gentleman before it was bought by myself.

It has a new 3 piece clutch kit fitted 2 weeks ago by Volvo Chris of Carbis Bay Cornwall. His verdict was that the underside looked in very good condition. That she drove very well and was a good example for its age.

A comprehensive set of files comes with the car, including all the original purchase docs. Sadly owner No2 decided I needed to believe it was an original 34,000 miler and binned the set covering 1993 - 2001 when obviously she went around the clock. This is apparent by her physical condition which i would say is a class B.

No serious rust apparent, but odd spots here and there on the surface are beginning to show. Never garaged the chococlate is beginning to melt in places and looking like a flake in others, mainly a patch on the rooftop, but as the pictures will show not too bad considering 30 yrs of Londons climatic conditions.

Interior is worn cloth, no holes, hood lining good, a split to the dash where the instrument panel rises up, good carpets, rubber mats, manual windows,
good panels to the doors. All varying shades of sun bleached chocolate...all it needs is a driver in a brown corduroy suit, a pipe and brown suede shoes to match. A veritable melange of brown, an icon of late 70's decor. Towbar and electrics all good. Original Volvo roof rack fitted.

Fantastic heater, no leaks or drips to the interior (stays nice and dry, no musty damp smells) washers and wipers all good. Radio needs aerial and tape deck needs speaker to door replacing (see below).

Bad points needing attention are:
Passengers front door panel needs refitting and window needs to be sorted as it opens only a few inches, the speaker needs to replaced (or the old crackly one refitting, and the electric aerial needs salvaging from the hole in the front offside wing. The rear drivers door needs a new window winder.

Taxed till beginning of August and Mot till November

This is a fine example only being sold due to it not being up to motorway cruising (old cars and wind noise) , and I am sad to sell this car which just makes me happy to drive. I have been all over the country in her.
A nice life as a surfers wagon, an enthusiasts pet, or just a cheap reliable motor for someone who does not care about age, outmoded technology(the main reason i liked it - so easy to fix, and so little to go wrong) or the fact that it is bloody ugly........but thats subjective anyway.

There you have it....my mobile mars bar....

Very realistic about the value, but do not insult the old dear. I paid £600, have had 2 yrs @ £250 per yr (Mots, servicing, Plus the £170 inclusive to have the new clutch fitted.) So anything over £400 will be considered.

I am going to put the car on eBay within the next week or so, will get some pictures up here as soon as I can, but wanted to offer her to club members as this is a genuinely good car, with huge mileage left given a caring and respectful owner.
