Hi Bob, your cars CO output must be less than 3.5% and the HC less than 1200ppm, lower emissions came out in August 92 and the requirement for all manufacturers to fit cats on new cars. There is no such thing as a cat test in the MOT only emissions tests which must be met. If your engine is up to spec and running normally you don't need the cat to pass your mot.
