I spray tow ball arm and reciver with duck oil every time I engage the removable tow ball. Duck oil allegedly dries to leave a protective coating that lasts up to a year helping to prevent corrosion.
I have found it so on the tow bar and unless I am kakhanded it engages cleanly every time.
