Default Why no DPF core replacement?

Recently sourced a 2008 XC90 and the next 3 out of 4 ownership days were spent wrestling with the car in limp mode/soot filter full. Not a great first encounter with the brand - fortunately, other aspects of the XC90 offset it. So far...but the clock is ticking..

Out of curiosity, I've pulled the DPF off to inspect and better understand its construction, noting the issues with DPF removal starting to creep onto regulators radar: https://www.theguardian.com/environm...-for-transport

It's easy enough to see how people cut and strip them, but why is there no service that offers a core replacement? Mine seems in pretty good shape aside from the core..anyone else encountered a shop/vendor that does core replacements? I've been tempted to do the cut/shut and ECU remap, but can foresee longer term issues in doing so..
