Because my car is (just) over 4 years old I only got a 50% goodwill contribution from Volvo. During replacement my EGR cooler was discovered to be partially blocked and also needed replacement, but this was covered 100% by Volvo. Cost me £337 total, including the initial diagnosis.
EGR problems on these VEA engines are horribly common. piotrek's link to the massive dedicated thread on this subject with many reports of issues is definitely worth a read...
