RESULT .... plugged the vacuum pipe back into the solenoid on the EGR, now runs like a dream not bad for 200k car.
The second hand EGR as worked a treat as has the swirl actuator. Plus a cleaned refurbished DPF.
As suggested the oxygen sensor fault codes have all disappeared, which is a relief.
Just need to sort the glow plugs; but I'm reluctant to fiddle as they look very likely to snap off.
And a new condenser... which will be next year.
