1993 240 Estate (Torslanda) Manual - Project For Sale
Hi all,
My grandparents have recently changed to a smaller car, and so their trusty 240 Torslanda is up for sale. I was hoping to advertise it with a years MOT as it has usually passed without trouble, but it has unfortunately failed.
Reasons for failure:
- None of the stop lamps working (most likely a fuse as they were working when I drove it home from Wales, will try and sort this out)
- Rust on offside rear suspension mounting location
I'm unsure if the rust that is referred to is just the rear sill near the wheel arch, which is a bit crusty but not that bad in my opinion (having just had to weld up my MX5 which was much worse!). Due to the failure it will need to be trailered away.
It has been a reliable runner for my grandparents for many years, being used to tow their caravan on occasion as well (tow bar and wiring still fitted).

- Unfortunately the history was lost when my grandparents moved house, but it has been looked after over the years and had money spent on it.
- Interior is in good condition with surprisingly little wear considering the age and mileage. Original Volvo radio is in place but the aerial isn't working so it won't find any radio stations.
- Bodywork has seen better days, a few scuffs on all 4 corners but these are just on the plastic bumpers. The rear of the sills in front of the rear wheels are starting to rust on both sides, but as said above I've seen much worse.
It starts and drives fine, I drove it back to Warwickshire from Wales and it didn't miss a beat. It wouldn't take much work to get it back on the road, if I had more time on my hands to sort it out I'd keep it myself as it has been in the family for a long time and it's been a great car.
I'm looking for around £750 having looked at what's currently up for sale, but am open to sensible offers. Located near Leamington Spa.
