I do a lot of driving on very minor country roads, coupled with early starts they can be quite tricky. That said proper winter tyres are beneficial over normal tyres at temperatures below 6-8 degrees, so give improved grip and stopping distance even if it's not snow and ice.
My XC60 is black so probably not easy to pick out in on the mean streets of BSE.
