This is guard 1 as you describe guard 1 (seperate RF module on the A pillar, control module under the the steering column attached to the wiring loom)
I unplugged the control module and removed both fuses and it still just turns over. Maybe I'm wrong about the alarm being the issue. It was a good starter until this.
