I have always assumed that someone who has been a forum member for a long time and has mentioned their car over the years is more likely to be honest. You can of course see any problems they had posted on this forum and how they sorted them out.
I am always slightly suspicious when someone new joins the forum to sell there Volvo which they had for "10 years" and now suddenly joins to flog their car.
But as always caveat emptor in both cases.
