Having just acquired my first ever Volvo (V40 CC T3 -brand new on personal lease) I'm thinking about an engine preheater....
A few questions about these...
I've seen an electric only one (linked below) and the ebay equivalents which are much cheaper. The reason I'm thinking electric is that it's a lease car, so it'll have to come off when the car goes back and I want something that is not too destructive to fit and remove.
These are all 240v, so clearly designed to plug into the mains. I have to park on the street, so the question is, can these run off the battery as well? I could always fit a transformer and maybe even a second battery.

Update: If I'm correct a 500w heater that should run for three hours will run a normal car battery flat in an hour, so this might not be viable....
