Did they say whether yours had actually deformed, or did it have a build-up of soot? Or something else?

I suppose a metal replacement would mitigate the burning concern which the safety recall is obviously based upon, however I'm hoping that Volvo do also address whatever underlying issues (EGR flow?) are causing the manifold to become affected. No idea if this is possible though!
