Just a couple of things - that fusebox down the n/s door pillar is prone to corrosion. Not sure which does what (but diagram on back of cover) but remove each fuse and thoroughly clean before refitting using some ACZP anti-corrosion grease stuff (or of course replace fuses). I know blank-all about car electrics but when similar happened to my 240 a local Volvo-owning friend came round and found a relay had failed. It was situated behind the glove-box and he said it was a safety-feature preventing an electric fuel pump for injection cars continuing to pump fuel if involved in an accident and the driver being incapacitated.
Otherwise I can recommend an auto-electrician in Worthing who sorted the headlight relay out (internal corrosion) on my Volvo 164....... Not sure if he does site visits though.
